The timeout setting is how long our system will wait to receive the reply before alerting you that your email is down. If your receiving too many alerts you may want to increase this number. I found that keeping all my clients at 12 min was a good timeout.
Why is the Test Server not working?
A few ways to test why it is not working:
1. Is the mailbox receiving the MXAlerts test? Turn off the automatic forward. Then click ‘test server,’ this will send a test email. Make sure the message gets to the mailbox.
2. Is the forwarding rule working properly? Change the forwarding address so it forwards to your personal email address. Click ‘test server’ and make sure the email gets forwarded to your personal email.
If both of these tests pass and you still cannot setup your email monitor please contact us.
Why is my Outlook forwarding rule not working?
On the Exchange Server there is a setting that by default does not allow automatic forwarding. To change that open the Exchange Management Consol. On the left side expand organization configuration and click hub transport. Then double click the domain (normally named default). In the settings you will see a checkbox for allow automatic forward, make sure this is checked.
